Hi everyone,
We had a great Annual General Meeting today.
I know, it sounds a bit like an oxymoron, but it really was good in that we had new ideas come up, new people join the cause, and new things to look forward to in the coming while. We remain the same church and same congregation, but I saw an openness to God’s moving and leading through who we are in this changing world. Not that we weren’t open before, but I guess perhaps more open.
And that could seem scary.
Scary because we don’t know where we’re going exactly. Scary because we might have to let go of some things. Scary because… well… change.
But thanks be to God, for we aren’t alone in it. We are together. We aren’t left to fend for ourselves. God is with us. And while it might at times feel like it, we aren’t aimless. We are led and guided by the Spirit and shown new life by Jesus our Lord.
Here’s to another great year!
Here are the readings for next week:
Genesis 12:1-4a
Psalm 121
Romans 4:1-5, 13-17
John 3:1-17
and a video of them being read:
Not only is change scary, but so can old concepts with new understanding. For example, Nicodemus was given some wisdom that he hadn’t heard before. The words were familiar, but the ideas were out there. It was hard for him to understand. It was difficult for him to grasp. It was darn near impossible for him to fully believe.
But Jesus remained true. Stood firm on God’s promises. Revealed love.
Sometimes it feels like we can never get it. Like it’ll always go over our heads. God’s plans can seem so big and so far fetched that we don’t know if we can get on board. And that’s ok. Jesus will continue to be with us. The Spirit will continue to guide us. And God will continue to save us with love.
Thanks be to God! Have a great week, everyone!
